NRCS Announces Second EQIP Signup and Cutoff Date

The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has announced a second Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) signup. The cutoff date for any EQIP applications to be considered for Fiscal Year 2005 funding during this signup is May 20, 2005. Any farmer, rancher, beginning farmer or rancher who has farmed or ranched for less than 10 years, or limited resource farmer or rancher, who is considering applying for EQIP needs to do so by the cutoff date. Producers who signup will need to fill out the EQIP Self-Assessment Tool when applying.

Information about the second 2005 EQIP signup is available on the Kansas Web site or is available at your local USDA Service Center from the NRCS or conservation district staff.  This will include the Kansas EQIP Self-Assessment Tool, an application form, a list of eligible practices and average costs, and specifics on Kansas’s ranking process, including criteria used to evaluate applications.
