Practices CP1, CP2, CP3, CP3A, CP4B, CP4D, and CP10 are available within an approved wellhead protection area only.  Any additional 10 percent incentive shall be added to the weighted average soil rental rate for these practices within approved wellhead protection areas and within 2000 feet of the wellhead.

Incentive Payments

Signing Incentive Payment (SIP)

CRP-SIP is a one-time incentive payment of $10/acre for each eligible acre enrolled for each full year of the contract (CRP-1, not to exceed 10 years) made to the participants (after all eligibility determinations have been made) who enroll the following continuous signup practices:

  • CP5A - Field Windbreaks
  • CP8A - Grassed Waterways
  • CP16A - Shelterbelts
  • Cp17A - Living Snow Fences
  • CP21 - Filter Strips
  • CP22 - Riparian Buffer
  • CP23 - Wetland Restoration
  • CP23A - Wetland Restoration Non-Foodplain
  • CP27 - Farmable Wetland
  • CP28 - Farmable Wetland Buffer
  • CP29 - Marginal Pastureland Wildlife Buffer
  • CP30 - Marginal Pastureland Wetland Buffer
  • CP33 - Field Borders
  • CP38E - Wildlife Habitat
Example:

A producer enrolls 5 acres to be devoted to CP21 - Filter Strips.  The duration of the CRP-1 (contract) is 10 years.  What is the CRP-SIP payment?

5 acres x 10 years x $10 = $500

Practice Incentive Payment (PIP)

CRP-PIP is a one-time incentive payment made to participants who enroll land in CRP to be devoted to all continuous signup practices, except CP15B - Contour Grass Buffers on Terraces.

CRP-PIP is calculated as 80% of the cost-share payment made to the participant for the establishment of the practice.

Example:

As with SIP, the participant enrolls 5 acres to be devoted to a CP21 - Filter Strip.  It costs $200 per acres to establish a filter strip.  The participant receives 50% of the cost of establishment for cost share.

$200 x 5 x .50 = $500 x .80 = $400
$500 (cost-share) + $400 (PIP) = $900

SIP and PIP may not be eligible where existing CRP is being reenrolled into continuous CRP.

Additional Rental Incentive

An additional incentive amount equal to 20% of the weighted Soil Rental Rate (SRR) shall be added to the weighted SRR for the following practices.

  • CP5A - Field Windbreaks
  • CP8A - Grassed Waterways
  • CP21 - Filter Strips
  • CP22 - Riparian Buffer
  • CP23 - Wetland Restoration
  • CP23A - Wetland Restoration Non-Floodplain
  • CP27 - Farmable Wetland
  • CP28 - Farmable Wetland Buffer
  • CP29 - Marginal Pastureland Wildlife Buffer
  • CP30 - Marginal Pastureland Wetland Buffer
  • CP31 - Bottomland Timber Establishment

For marginal pastureland devoted to CP22, CP29, and CP30, the additional incentive amount is equal to 20% of the marginal pastureland rental rates.

Example:
Continuous Signup CRP Payments to Participant*
CRP Cost-Share Payment for Practice Installation** Signing Incentive Payment (SIP) Practice Incentive Payment (PIP) Total
$500 $500 $400 $1,400

*This does not include the annual soil rental rate (SRR) payment that varies by county and by soil type.
**The cost-share amount will vary from county to county depending on the local county program.
