Kansas Conservation Reserve Program (CRP)
Technical Guidance Number 30

Subject: Mowing of Hunting Lanes on Commercial Shooting
Preserves
Farm Service Agency Notice CRP-380 authorizes mowing of hunting lanes on
Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) contracts that are Commercial Shooting
Preserves. A conservation plan modification is required before this practice can
be applied and must include the attached addendum for Commercial Shooting
Preserves.
CRP participants who wish to have the contracts modified must meet the
following criteria:
- be a licensed commercial shooting preserve in Kansas,
- the shooting preserve is operated in a manner consistent with state agency
rules,
- no barrier fencing or boundary limitations exist that prohibit wildlife
access to and from the CRP acreage, and
- CRP cover is maintained according to the conservation plan.
Conservation plan modification for mowing of hunting lanes will include
adding a wildlife habitat management practice. The practice will reference the
addendum (attached) as items that will be completed. The addendum will be
attached as a part of the conservation plan modification.
This practice is not authorized for individual CRP contracts that are not
Commercial Shooting Preserves.
If you have any questions, please contact Gaye Bletscher, Soil
