Kansas Conservation Reserve Program (CRP)
Technical Guidance Number 50

August 17, 2004

Subject: N1a – Cover Subfactor – Approved Cover Mixes for CP1, CP2, CP4B, CP4D, CP12, and CP25

This technical guidance document replaces technical guidance documents numbers 34 and 41.

The attached matrices are listings of various planting mixes for Wildlife Habitat Benefits and the associated point scores for the CRP practices CP1, CP2, CP4B, CP4D, CP12, and CP25. Also attached is a map of the seeding zones in Kansas, as referenced in the matrices.

Please be aware of CRP Technical Guidance Number 38, dated May 15, 2003, which contains optimum wildlife seeding mixes recommended by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks.

These matrices are in affect for CRP Sign-up 29 and subsequent sign-ups, until amended.

Deviation from this guidance will require a variance approved by the state conservationist. However, recommendations for improving the mixtures to provide greater wildlife and/or environmental benefits are encouraged.
