Kansas Conservation Reserve Program (CRP)
Technical Guidance Number 61

March 31, 2009

Subject: Native Grass Establishment on Sandy Sites Associated with Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP) Acres

Many of the acres being enrolled into the CREP are deep sands. These acres are going to present unique challenges associated with the establishment of grass cover. Due to the susceptibility of these sites to blowing and the challenges these sites present for establishment of a grass cover, the attached guidelines shall be followed when planning cover establishment on these acres. These guidelines will provide the best opportunity for a successful establishment of a permanent cover on these acres.
