Conservation Security Program - Fiscal Year 2005

The Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 (Pub. L. 107-171, May 13, 2002) (the Act) amended the Food Security Act of 1985 (16 U.S.C. 3801 eq seq.) to authorize the Conservation Security Program (CSP).  The program is administered by USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).  The CSP is a voluntary program that provides financial and technical assistance to producers who advance the conservation and improvement of soil, water, air, energy, plant and animal life, and other conservation purposes on Tribal and private working lands.  Such lands include cropland, grassland, prairie land, improved pasture, and range land, as well as forested land and other non-cropped area that are an incidental part of the agriculture operation.
