Section 5 - Communications

Telephone Equipment and Services

In October 2004, USDA approved an Incidental Transfer Agreement for the transfer of certain IT support functions to OCIO-ITS. As a result, ITS established a framework for service delivery to FSA, NRCS and RD for IT equipment including telephone systems and phones.

Maintenance

OCIO-ITS is responsible for maintenance. Contact Area ITS Specialist for assistance.

Type of Systems

Current telephone systems are identified on the USDA Offices Telecommunication Map.

Services

The OCIO-ITS is responsible for assuring the number of phone lines installed in the USDA Service Center is in accordance with guidelines. They are also responsible for assuring the phone system is set up in accordance with approved guidelines.

Only OCIO-ITS staff shall contact the local phone company to report problems or request changes.

Inventory

OCIO-ITS records and maintains property inventory.
