Central Great Plains MLRA Soil Survey OfficeDEFINITION of a Major Land Resource Area: Major land resource areas are geographically associated land resource units, usually encompassing several thousand acres, characterized by a particular pattern of soils, geology, climate, water resources, and land use. A unit can be one continuous area or several separate nearby areas. The Central Great Plains MLRA Soil Survey Partnership Region (SSR5) office located in Salina, Kansas, is one of 17 MLRA regional offices serving the continental United States and the Caribbean area.
